02/11/10 7:44 PM

Despite coming up short in Super Bowl XLIV, the Indianapolis Colts have been installed as the early favorite to capture Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Some sportsbooks have the Colts as a 6/1 favorite for the 2010 NFL season. The New Orleans Saints are the top choice among NFC teams at 8/1 after knocking off the Colts. The San Diego Chargers are also at 8/1 to round out the top three contenders heading into this season. AFC outlook In addition to the Colts and Chargers, the AFC has a few other clubs that are viewed as viable title contenders. From the AFC North, the Pittsburgh Steelers are at 10/1 while the Baltimore Ravens are a 15/1 choice. After leading the NFL with three Super Bowl titles in the last decade, the New England Patriots are still in the mix entering 2010 at odds of 10/1. Off of a strong playoff run last season, the New York Jets are poised to give New England a run in the AFC East at odds of 15/1. A couple of sleeper teams to win the Super Bowl could reside in the AFC South. After going 8-2 in the final ten games of last season, the Tennessee Titans have odds of 30/1. Tennessee had the best record in the NFL in 2008. Coming off of their first winning season in franchise history, the Houston Texans could be ready to be a playoff team this season. Houston has odds of 40/1 to capture the Super Bowl. Buffalo, Cleveland, Kansas City and Oakland are the biggest underdogs in the AFC at odds of 100/1. NFC outlook In a conference that has seen nine different franchises reach the Super Bowl over the last nine years, the NFC could have a tenth different squad in the game in 2010. Dallas, Minnesota and Green Bay could each keep the streak intact. All three clubs are among the next group of contenders behind New Orleans at 12/1. The Cowboys will attempt to be the first team to play in its home stadium in a Super Bowl. The Philadelphia Eagles are also at 12/1 to win the Super Bowl. The next group of teams at odds of 30/1 are the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants. Detroit, St. Louis and Tampa Bay are the biggest long shots from the conference at odds of 100/1.
