Hattiesburg, MS (Sports Network) - Former Morehead State head coach Donnie Tyndall has been hired in that position at Southern Mississippi.
Tyndall took over a six-win team and turned it into a 25-win team five seasons later; its record improved in each of those five seasons.
He led the Eagles to two Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championships, and their accompanying NCAA Tournament berths, in 2009 and 2011, as he compiled a 114-85 overall record in six years on the sideline.
The Morehead State graduate has also held positions with Middle Tennessee State, Idaho, and LSU at the Division I level.
