Player to get Drafted First: (Alec Burks -275 vs. Jimmer Fredette +185)
In a close finish, this prop went to the underdog. With the tenth choice in the first round, the Milwaukee Bucks went with Fredette. The star guard out of BYU ultimately was dealt to the Sacramento Kings. After passing up on a guard with the third pick in the draft, the Utah Jazz selected Burks at the 12th spot. At 6-6, many analysts feel that Burks will have an easier transition to the NBA than the 6-3 Fredette.
Total Duke Players Drafted in the First Round (Ov/Un: 1.5, OV-2)
While it wasn't a major surprise that the Blue Devils had a pair of choices in the opening round, there were a couple of players from the school that didn't go as projected in draft. After guard Kyrie Irving landed in Cleveland as the first overall choice in the draft, the Portland Trail Blazers went with Nolan Smith at the 21st spot. On most of the mock boards leading up to the draft, Smith was projected to go in the middle of the second round. In contrast, Kyle Singler was seen as a late first round pick by many analysts. He went to the Detroit Pistons with the third choice in round two.
Total Kansas Players Drafted in the First Round (Ov/Un: 2.5, UN-2)
As expected, the Morris brothers were both selected in the first round. While most draft boards had Marcus going higher than Markieff, the end result didn't work out that way. With the 13th pick, the Phoenix Suns went with Markieff Morris. In the very next spot, the Houston Rockets grabbed Marcus Morris. Guard Josh Selby was another Kansas product that was in the mix. He stayed on the board until the 19th spot of the second round when the Memphis Grizzlies selected him.
More Players Drafted in the First Round (Texas -135 vs. Kentucky -105)
The two schools combined for three of the top eight selections in the 2011 draft. Kentucky's Entes Kanter (3rd-Utah) and Brandon Knight (8th-Detroit) gave the Wildcats a total of seven opening round picks over the last two drafts. At the 23rd spot in round two, DeAndre Liggins was the last Kentucky product to go in this year's draft. He was picked by the Orlando Magic. After Tristan Thompson went to the Cavaliers in the fourth spot, two more Longhorns snuck into the first round. Jordan Hamilton (26th-Dallas) and Cory Joseph (29th-San Antonio) enabled Texas to win this prop.
