03/29/12 Stamps' Hufnagel rewarded with 5-year extension

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel agreed to a five-year contract extension on Thursday.

Hufnagel has guided the Stampeders to the playoffs in each of his first four seasons. In 2011, Calgary posted an 11-7 record and earned a berth in the West Division semifinal.

"I'm very pleased that the Stampeders ownership group feels confident about putting its faith in me for the next five years," said Hufnagel, who ranks second in team history with 47 wins. "Stamps fans can rest assured that I will continue to do everything possible with our coaching and football operations staff to put a great product on the field every season.'

Hufnagel led the Stamps to the franchise's sixth Grey Cup title in his first season.
